Bolita Beans – Heritage Southwest Bean Variety
Product description
Discover a cherished heirloom of the Southwest with Bolita Beans, a creamy-tan bean slightly smaller than a pinto but prized for its smooth texture and naturally rich flavor. This historic bean was among the original varieties brought by the Spanish during early settlement in New Mexico and is still grown today on a limited number of traditional farms.
Our bolita beans come from a small family farm in southwestern Colorado, continuing a farming tradition that spans centuries in the Four Corners region. They cook quickly, develop a velvety texture, and readily absorb the spices and seasonings you add — making them a versatile staple in countless recipes.
Bolita beans shine in BBQ beans, soups, stews, and slow-cooked dishes. They’re also excellent simmered with onion and salt for a hearty, flavorful meal.
